Don Kiser Don Kiser (1937 - April 23, 2009) was an American politician and the Mayor of Paris, Kentucky from 2002 up until his death in 2009. Kiser originally was a city commissioner for five years before being elected mayor in 2002. Kiser was one of the first full-time mayors of the city as the city manager runs the city. Kiser pushed for many developments within the city including a new Wal-Mart complex. He stated in 2004 the "If you told me four years ago Paris would get a Starbucks, I'd say you were out of your mind." Kiser collapsed on April 22, 2009, while working at city hall.
